About Michael

Writer. Storyteller. Space Historian.

Michael Patrick O'Hara is an author, screenwriter and space historian whose work explores technology, history, artificial intelligence, space exploration and the human consequences of scientific advancement.

Growing up during the space race—and watching programs such as The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits—created a lifelong fascination with two questions: What is possible? and What if? Those questions continue to influence both his fiction and screenwriting today.

Michael earned a Bachelor of Science in Space Studies, with Honors, from American Military University and studied Business Management at Johns Hopkins University. His longtime interest in space history led to The Conquest of Space, where he researches and writes about the people, missions and technologies behind humanity's exploration beyond Earth.

Before focusing more extensively on writing and creative projects, Michael spent thirty years in the financial-services industry. That experience gave him a firsthand view of organizations, leadership, ambition, decision-making and human behavior—subjects that frequently find their way into his stories.

His fiction often places ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances involving artificial intelligence, time travel, space exploration and emerging technology. His feature screenplay ARTI continues that theme with an intimate psychological thriller about ambition, dependence, privacy and an artificial intelligence that may have learned far more about its user than anyone intended.

Michael is originally from Baltimore, Maryland and now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. When he isn't writing, he continues to research space history and pursue photography.
