About Mike

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Mike has a career that spans thirty years working at two of America's largest financial institutions. While banking has been his day job, space and spacflight is his passion. Mike majored in Business Management at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Space Studies, with Honors, from the American Military University.

Inspired by growing up in the 60's, the space program and the science fiction were dominant themes of the era. It wasn't about just going into space, it was the curiosity of what was there and why we were here.  The mysteries of our universe and how it all came to be. Mike channels lifelong interest in space into his popular blog, The Conquest of Space.  There, he writes about interesting and little known facts and secrets of the space program, The influence of early science fiction can be found in his novel "Killing Time: The Story of Project Toten Zeit" and other short stories.  All are available on Amazon.

Mike has an interest in fostering change through thinking differently about how to solve problems and issues that our city, state, and country face.  Mike was a 2015 General Election candidate for Charlotte City Council, and had previously ran for Mayor in Manchester, Maryland.

Mike and his wife Patti live in their adopted hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. They have four grown children, and are parents to not one, but two German Shepards, King and Kohle.
