Liftoff!
You
can guess by looking at the site so far that I'm
a tad preoccupied with stars and space. It's only
fitting that rockets would complete
the cycle. Rocketry is tremendous fun and just
like stargazing it's more fun when you build and
launch your own rockets! I'm a member of the Rocketry of Central Carolina
organization, a great group dedicated to helping
advance rocketry in the Charlotte area as well as
being a member of NAR (National
Association of Rocketry)
I've
launched quite a few rockets over the years.
Mostly "E", "F" ,
"G" and "H" engine models,
but also have a nice low power fleet and a few
upper-end rockets. Most of my rockets are my own
designs and I cut my own fins. The picture to the
left is my Stingray. A large finned, high
performance rocket.
I'm
always looking to upgrade the power and build
more sophisticated rockets. I have a few projects in the
works to develop a broader fleet. My inventory
includes a 5 foot G-Force rocket
that flies on a large "G" engine, a PML Intruder that flies
on an "H", "I" or
"J" motor, and a replica V-2 that will
fly on an "H" and "I" engine.
In March 2008 I received my Level 1 NAR Certification
on a Public Missiles Intruder and I'm
looking to get my Level II certification in 2011.
It's
rewarding to see a rocket that you built from
scratch soar into the blue sky. I've also done
some kitbash's on commercial kits and I'm working
on upfitting an Estes Executioner and an Estes
Big Daddy to run on "G" motors. I've
also built quite a few out of the box models and
have a growing fleet of flight
ready rockets.
Rocketry
is great fun and is exhilarating to watch! It is
easy to get started with great beginner, ready to
fly kits for those who want to start small and
build their knowledge. Take a few minutes to look
around this section and learn about my rocket
adventures.
